Iditarod Race Adventures

On the first weekend of March, the Iditarod Dog Sled Race passes through Rainy Pass. This legendary event, known as "The Last Great Race on Earth," is a contest of endurance and triumph over the hostile winter wilderness—it commemorates the brave mushers who took life saving serum to Nome, Alaska during the Diphtheria epidemic of 1925. You can't compare the Iditarod to any other competitive event in the world! It is a 1000 mile race over the roughest, most beautiful terrain Mother Nature can serve up. Mushers and their dog teams face jagged mountain ranges, frozen rivers, dense forests, desolate tundra and miles of windswept coast. The Iditarod depends on thousands of volunteers all along the way and you can be a part of this incredible journey!

Rainy Pass Lodge is an official checkpoint on the Iditarod trail. As a guest of the Lodge, you may participate in the race as a volunteer or simply enjoy watching the teams come into the check point and cheering them on as they leave. Guided excursions down the trail are available, you may even find a few left behind dog booties. No matter your level of participation, being part of this amazing adventure is the chance of a lifetime. Book your reservations today as reservations for this event are very limited and fill up fast.
